screeching brakes, periodic maintenance
Brakes are done on an “as needed” basis, not as “periodic maintenance”.
They’re screeching now, get them inspected now.
Grinding brakes are more dangerous. Please define what you mean about screeching?
What a wealth of information. I can tell you need one, some, or possibly all of the following. Pads, rotors, calipers, master cylinder, brake lines both rubber and metal, ABS accumulator, ABS motor, and ABS control unit. And definitely use only Aston Martin parts.
When I step on the brakes there’s a high-pitch screech, definitely not a grinding sound. (The car has been garaged but unused for 3 months.)

Could be a wear warning device. Get the pads checked.
Brakes emit a high-pitch screech when I step on them - not a grinding noise. The car has been sitting unused in the garage for 3 months. (I also need a recommendation for knowledgeable periodic maintenance.)

Is there an Aston Martin dealer near you? You could get periodic maintenance there. If you live in a large metro area, there are luxury car shops that can work with you. I think any shop could probably figure out what’s wrong, but getting parts might be more difficult for them.
If your brakes didn’t make this noise before you parked it for three months, then maybe the noise is just the pads grinding on rust. Take it out and brake hard a few times. See if that rubs the rust off.
Thank you, I appreciate your reply. Tho I live in San Francisco, the nearest dealer is an hour drive away, so I am hoping for a recommendation on a auto shop or mechanic with A-M experience that’s closer than an hour drive from the city.

I bet an AM forum would be more informative.
Sorry for not being specific, and I thank you for your advice, but the situation is not so complicated. First of all, I am hoping for a strong recommendation of an auto shop or mechanic that’s experienced in Aston Martin that can do regular maintenenace and is closer than the 1 hr drive to a dealer from my home in San Francisco. Next, the car has only 7200 miles, no abusive driving, and has not been driven for 3 months, I planned to have the squeaky brakes checked as part of a regular maintenance call. However, that’s a small issue, as I suspect that I may have gotten the brakes wet shortly before storing it, resulting in some rust that will wear off during normal driving.

I just put ( Aston Martin repair ) in Google and got quite a few hits . If I can do that it can’t be that hard to use the web for what it does well.
That’s very true, but I’m hoping for a recommendation from someone who’s had good experience with one of the listed shops doing work on his/her Aston Martin.

George , I don’t think any of the regulars here own a Aston Martin . Use the web for reviews and as Mr. Texases says look for an Aston martin Forum.
You’re right, and I thank you. I also feel a bit sheepish for not thinking of it myself - perhaps I’ve not yet entered the 21st century🤓

Thank you, and you are right… and per my just-sent reply, I feel a bit sheepish for not thinking of it myself.

No AM experience (other than watching Bond films ) but I expect the brake system on the 2009 AM Vantage is similar to most modern cars. Screeching is often caused by the wear indicators from the posts we get here. Some high-performance cars tend to have squeakier brakes than the econoboxes, so that’s another possibility. To get the needed stopping performance some compromise on squeaking is required I guess.
Thank you, and I’ve heard that brake squeak is not unknown in Aston Martins. That’s exactly why I’m hoping for a recommendation of a auto shop or mechanic with good A-M experience who’s closer to San Francisco than an hour drive than a dealer.

Look at the very top of the screen. See the “mechanics files” link, upper left? AM specialty mechanics unlikely to be found there, but still worth taking a peek. There may be a Euro-specialist.
Not sure about the rest of the country, but the 3 mechanics listed in my area, 2 went out of business 15 years ago, and the last one was shut down by the I.R.S. 5 years ago.
There are no other shops here.
