We’ve got a 2008 Prius that suddenly developed a problem w both the sensor indicating how full the gas tank is AND the ability to fill up the gas tank completely. Can only put 3 gallons in at a time. When I do that, it registers “full” which is isn’t… any idea what could cause this and what to do?
You may have a bad fuel level sensor. Replacing the fuel pump and sensor would solve that as long as the wiring is in good shape. That alone may fix your fill problem. If it does not, then a look at the evap system starting at the filler neck.
I personally have this problem on one of my cars. Fuel brand and time of the year has a huge affect on that problem. I just stay away from that gas brand.
