2008 Jeep Compass Clutch

I was stuck in traffic on a steep incline, due to an accident, for about 10 minutes. My clutch overheated due to the stop and start movement of traffic. While not moving I put car in neutral. The smell was awful and when I could I got off the highway. I called for a tow and car was taken to a local service station. The next day I got the car back. The mechanic told me the clutch had actually gotten so hot it stuck to flywheel. When car cooled down it came loose. They drove car all day and it shifted fine.

I’m wondering if I permanently damaged the clutch and whether the manual transmission fluid should have been changed. Also there is still a residual burnt odor which I hope will go away.

Any information would be appreciated
