Cannot check transmission oil height or add oil dealer has to do it told me it would be 1200.00 dollars.
There has to be some serious miscommunication here .
One thousand, two hundred dollars to check the trans fluid? You MUST have that wrong.
Why do you think you need to check the level? Have you had a leak?
Even if they change the fluid and filter it should not be more than $300 - $400 dollars. if it is then walk away from those crooks and find a new mechanic .
+1
When my car was in for its 90k service, I told the service advisor that I wanted the trans fluid changed. Before he printed the work order for my inspection, he clarified…
Do you want the fluid checked, or do you want it changed?
I guess that they do this for their protection in the event that a customer doesn’t communicate well.
In any event, the trans fluid change cost $280.76–at a dealership–so the OP can surely find a shop that will change his/her trans fluid for just a fraction of the price that was quoted.
There are instructions in the owners manual for my 2007 - but 2008 was the first year of a new generation of those minivans, so maybe there’s a different transmission.
