Okay, have it inspected. If water only up to doorsills you are probably safe buying it, but wheel bearings and brakes must be thoroughly inspected. If engine was under water-RUN.
BTW, fresh or saltwater, if saltwater, I would not even consider the vehicle.

Did you just buy it? Did you buy it without a CarFax or AutoCheck or one of these services AND an inspection by a mechanic? You can still run a background check on your car to see if it was a salvage car, or resided in Texas after Harvey or similar hints like that.
