2007 Chevrolet Impala whines when accelerating

High pitched whine or whistle when accelerating. Louder from a stop, less road noise, I guess.

My first thought is a power steering pump that’s low on fluid. A bad pulley bearing is another possibility.

Bring the vehicle to a shop, and explain what you hear.

Then ask what it would cost to remove the serpentine belt, and check the belt and all the components that come in contact with the belt for wear.

A bad diode in the alternator can also cause a high pitched whine.
