transmission wont shift to second gear
Try to shift manually rather than putting it in drive and see if that changes anything. Either way, sounds like a trip to the transmission shop. Should be cheaper if manually shifting works. Might be a sensor or shift solenoid. No check engine light on?
Or may be the linkage needs a simple adjustment.
