No, the trans fluid check is not automatic. You have to check it as described in your owners manual.
If this is the same transmission as my G6, there is no dipstick. To check the fluid you have to take it in to a shop, put it on a level lift, and open a fill plug by the axle. Highly recommend fluid changes at 30,000 miles anyway so just have fluid drain and fill with synthetic for a little over $100. If I missed the question your payment is cheerfully refunded.
