This is one of those all most impossible to answer questions . Your location , what type of shop you use , do you want to put a used engine or rebuilt or a completely new engine in. Talk to friends , co-workers and relatives to find a good shop and let them give you options.
I’d say… more than the car is worth. It is a 14 year old PT Cruiser. Not worth he cost of a used engine, let alone a remanufactured one.
