How to reset oil sevice meter (milage) after an oil change?

If you don’t feel like spending the money, try asking this question on a BMW specific forum. Sometimes you can perform a “chicken dance” to get the indicator to reset. This usually involves turning on the ignition while holding down the odometer trip reset button while keeping the driver’s door open and one foot one the ground. (ok, maybe having one foot on the ground won’t help, but there’s some sort of esoteric procedure for resetting it without any special tools).
