I have a 2005 volvo s40 t5 awd , ans lost the keys to the car, can i just disable the chipped key and install a push button start, by pass the transponder ? I have a coup,e of keys from some volvo’s that work as far as turning the ignition then i get a key error, is it possible to get the transponders out of the junk car ans put it in my junk car. Closest volvo dealer is 175 miles from me. Any imput would be help full. Thanks
If it was that easy to defeat, it wouldn’t be much of a theft prevention.
Possibly, each manufactures setup is different, The key and transponder would need to be from the same car.
Again if it was that easy to defeat, it’s not much of an anti-theft set-up.
Many mobile locksmiths can cut and program car keys. And if you already have keys that turn in the ignition switch, he may be able to program the transponder to that key.
