Is it possible for mechanics to damage the rack and pinion system while replacing the transmission? Or did it just spontaneously malfunction while sitting at the dealership for 2+ weeks, as they allege.
Things don’t spontaneously malfunction when they are sitting, unused, at the dealership. SOMETHING happened to the rack and pinion. What do they claim is wrong with it?
They never really said what was wrong, just that it needed to be replaced. I’m not a mechanic, obviously, and don’t even know what ?'s to ask. Both transmission and r & p system were covered by extended warranty, but we are still out deductible and cost of front end alignment. I’ve got a complaint out to Ford about this dealer and service department, but probably they won’t care much.
