I have a 2005 Ford Freestyle mini van. About a year ago it has been driving along then it loses power and shuts off shortly after. We have replaced the fuel filter and alternator and battery. It has recently started to get worse. Any idea what to do?
You need to test the coil over plugs. An independant mechanic can do that for you.
Have the fuel pressure tested when the failure is happening. Fuel pump would be my guess.
The problem might be caused by a faulty crankshaft position sensor.
When the computer loses the signal from this sensor, the computer see’s no reason to operate the fuel and ignition systems, and the engine shuts off.
