Hello Guys. I am back I have had all rotors replaced on my car and the 2003 Honda still starts to shake at 55 mhp. It drives so good but at the speed of 55 to 60 its begins to shake. You can feel it in the steering wheel and front seat. Once you get above 60 mph it quits. My car has a ghost. I am so disappointed. Any more suggestions?
I wonder if the trouble has to do with the engine, flywheel, or torque converter. My first thought was the engine mounts but since you had them replaced I wonder if you are now feeling the vibrations from the engine because the mounts are now transfering the vibrations to the chassis. Try placing the transmission into neutral while the vibration is at it’s worst and see if that changes anything.
Thanks If it should be this, Would it hurt to drive the car this way for a while?
No, I wouldn’t think that would be a problem.
I did what you said and the car still has the shake in it.
Took it to the Honda place today and had the oil change and also the transmission fluid. The mechanic saw a leak around the right front axle mount going into the transmission.
I took it back to the mechanic that put on the axle and he replace some kind of bearing. in it. ??? It was not leaking at the transmission anyway. Seems like some of the shake is gone. I have not been up to high speeds yet, but will soon
I am going on Vacation in it to N.C. Hope all goes well If it shakes it will just have to shake, as long as it holds together lol. I am going home. It has been a year since I have been to Tarheel Country. Alabama is nice but N.C. is better. Thanks for your advice.
If the shaking didn’t change when you put the transmission in neutral and let the engine idle then I can’t see the trouble coming from the engine or the transmission area. Does appling the brakes make any difference that you can tell?
I had two tires replaced and some of the shaking stop, but it is still in the left front. Feels like the car is pulling against the brake at times. It did make a difference in replacing two tires.
I had an '81 Accord that shuddered just a little at certain speeds, even though all the usual suspects were checked.
I just avoided cruising at those speeds, e.g. going 55 or 60 instead of 57 when using the aftermarket cruise control.
