My truck is rusting away, and I need a bed for it (crew cab S-10). I can’t find a bed worth dragging home that doesnt cost more than my truck. Anybody have any ideas?
Give it up and replace it. There has to be rust in in vital places that you don’t even know about.

You answered your own question even though you didn’t realize it. Rust never sleeps. Live with it, sell it or scrap it.
If you opt for a new midsize truck consider one with a composite bed (Toyota). Or if you move up, a carbon fiber bed (GMC Sierra).
I made a bed from wood for my 1979 Toyota 4X4 but after a few years the rust had grown to the point that the frame broke near the back of the cab, about in 2006. Fortunately the breakage occurred while the truck was being raised at a tire shop for a tire rotation. It was fun while it lasted.
