2002 Mercury Grand Marquis - Overheat Alert/Engine Shutting Down

While driving my car, the temperature light keeps coming on and sometimes, the car sputters and shuts down. It’s happened quite a few times and I’m now driving local streets in fear of an accident. We changed a couple sensors, installed a new battery, new thermostat and alternator. The problem still persists; but, not as bad a before.

You need to find a better mechanic. If you keep overheating the engine you will destroy it.

On a 2002 your radiator is probably partially clogged with rust and scale, and possibly needs a new water pump too. The electric fan motor may not be functioning correctly. As Mustangman said, you need a better mechanic.
