2002 Honda Odyssey - Unexplained dash light

2002 Odessey Van - Dashboard Drive indicator light comes on for about 10-15 min - blinking behind the D letter. If I stop the car and then restart it doesn’t come back on. Checked transmission fluid and this is at proper level and clean. What gives? Transmission seems to be working well with no noise or slippage.

\Thanks

The blinking D doesn’t point to a specific problem. It means the powertrain computer thinks there’s a problem with one of the powertrain inputs or outputs. When the D blinks, there is usually a corresponding diagnostic code, so checking for codes is the next step.

If the D blinks and the transmission is misbehaving, harsh shifts, delayed shifts, rpm flares, esp in 3rd gear, that’s often caused by a faulty transmission clutch pack.

A blinking or flashing D light on your Honda’s dashboard is an indication that you have a faulty transmission . The problem can arise from a variety of things and should be inspected and diagnosed by a professional mechanic immediately.

Check to see if you have any codes even if no check engine light is on, could have pending codes that have not become hard codes yet…

Leaving it alone and not taking care of the issue can end up costing you $$$$…
The blinking light can be an early indication of something wrong before having internal damage…
