2001 Jetta throttle position sensor Check engine light

I am getting a CE for this code. Everything works just fine. What do I need to replace?

Check and/or replace the Throttle Position Sensor.

Ok sorry, stupid question. That being done… the CE light is still giving the same code. Any other possible causes?

Could be two things, someone may have adjusted the throttle stop screw thinking that it was an idle adjust screw and now the TPS doesn’t return to zero when you take your foot off the gas. The other thing could be a build up of carbon on the throttle body keeping the throttle from fully closing. If its the second, you should also be experiencing a sticky throttle when you first step on the gas.
