when driving down the road check engine and reduced power light comes on. i checked battery voltage. checked alternator plugs and tried manually resetting computer, also checked all fuses. when driving car acts like its bogging down, accelerates very slowly. when you put the car in park it idles high.
I’m not sure why you checked what you did. “Reduced power” is referring to the engine’s output, not the car’s electrical system.
You need to get the computer’s stored codes read (Autozone will do it for free) and post back.
That CEL (check engine light) is just a kid in class waving her hand trying to get you attention because she has the answer. You need to have the codes read. Some places will read them for FREE. Try Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts. Get the exact code (like P0123) not just their translation into English and post it back here.
The reduced power is limp mode. The code will help point towards the problem. Don't assume that because the standard error name does not mean that the part named is the cause of the problem, only that it or something related to it is involved, but may not be the cause.
