2005 Buick LaCrosse - Reduced power mode in and out

The reduced power mode comes on intermediately. It can go 2 days without happening, then the next day 3 or4 times in a row. You can shut the mother off wait a minute, and restart everything is fine

How many miles on your LaCrosse?
Is the check engine light on? (it should be when you go into reduced power mode)
Have you read the codes? What are they? (specific code numbers not just general statements)
How old is the battery in the car?

Please answer the questions so we can help.

When your car’s computer detects certain engine problems which could damage the engine or emissions system, that might enable the reduced power mode. One common reason is misfires, b/c that can damage the catalytic converter. Are there any misfire symptoms? Does the engine seem to have hiccups sometimes?

That warning usually comes on when there’s a problem with the drive by wire system. This includes the accelerator pedal position sensor to the electronic throttle body, and everything in between…

If the Check Engine light hasn’t turned on, then a scanner should be connected to the vehicle to check for pending codes.

But he most common cause for the problem you’re having is a bad accelerator pedal position sensor.

Does the car have sun roof? The drains may be detached and water is leaking onto a connector in the A pillar.
