I have a 2001 Buick Regal LS with an exhaust lead in the resonator assembly. Do you need to replace the resonator assembly or can you bypass it with an exhaust pipe? If you bypass the resonator assembly will it effect the preformance or the emissions on the car?
The resonator is a sound attenuator or a small muffler and has no effect on emissions. You can replace the resonator with a straight pipe, but it will effect the exhaust tone.
