Check Engine Light stays on. My mechanic can tune it up and it goes out temporarily but comes right back on within 50 miles. Car runs great.
What could cause that?
What causes that is a problem your mechanic can’t find and fix. Many, many things can turn on the light. We need to know the exact code that is stored when that light appears to be of any help. You can get the codes read at most auto parts stores for free. Get the actual code, in the form P0123 and post back.
Or find a better mechanic.
