My 2000 Passat started shaking at 35mph and finally stalled. The starter makes a noise but doesn’t engage the flywheel to turn the motor over. I have found 2-3 instance identicl to my on the net but no resolution. Its not the batt., alternator, timming belt, or oil level. I don’t believ it’s the coil pack unless they also affect the starter.
Maybe, the starter does engage the engine flywheel, but, can’t turn the engine over. Why? This is beyond your abilities. Call for a mechanic.
