2000 Dodge Neon: freeze plug issues

2000 Dodge Neon having issues with freeze plugs falling out. Have replaced at least four freeze plugs over the last year and a half. Is there a solution to avoid constant replacement? Neon has about 135,000 miles. There is no warning when a plug is about to fall. Research shows freeze plug issues are not isolated to the Neon and perhaps copper plugs are the answer.

Never heard of this before…and the only reason I can think of is that the wrong size freeze plug was used in the first place. They really dont ever fall out. DO you think this could be due to SAE/Metric sizing? Maybe you arent using the right measurement system here?

How did you remove the original freeze plug? I think there is more to this story than you are telling.
