How do you set the timing after replacing the head gasket?

Buy a Chilton or Haynes shop manual for your truck
It will show you which marks to line up
To start, you have to be sure your cylinder #1 is at TDC on the compression stroke (not the exhaust stroke) and that the valves are all closed on cylinder #1. I second the Haynes or Chilton suggestion.
If you’re taking about the ignition timing, that’s controlled by the computer.
