Hello,
My 1999 Grand Cherokee has what seems to be an igntition switch problem. When I put the key into the ignition, it will not turn. The steering wheel does not seem to be locked (it will turn a little) and the shifter seems to be locked (I cannot get it from park to neutral).
Any suggestions on the correct course of action?

You may need a new key cylinder in the steering column if the plastic tumblers (not correct terminology) are broken.
Heavy key chains are the cause of a lot of this.
The rest is just wear and tear.
