1999 Ford Explorer key gets stuck

When I try turn off the car the key gets stuck and wont get out and it wont let me get out either.

Just because the key is stuck should not keep the door from opening . You need a new key ignition but first see if it does the same thing with your other key.

Try shifting out of Park and then firmly shifting back into Park, assuming it’s a model with automatic transmission. Occasionally, drivers of this generation would encounter a pseudo-Park position with the shifter from years of casually shifting into a near-Park position which would lead to a key locked in the ignition cylinder or the vehicle shifting out of Park and rolling away. I’ve experienced both myself.

I may be going out on that proverbial limb, but I think its likely that–after 6 years–the OP either resolved the lock problem, or–more likely–has replaced his 25 year old Explorer.

Or Erving could still be locked in his vehicle.
