1998 Camry V6 with 124,000 miles on it.
Any help appreciated in understanding what this means and how to go about fixing it.

P1410 EGR valve position sensor circuit malfunction. Does that help? It could be the wiring to, or from, the sensor. It could be the sensor, itself. You need “duh book” (repair manual) to check it out.
