1997Lincoln Continental steering

This only happened twice, but while driving and steering to the left, it seemed that it sticks for about 5 seconds and then goes back to normal. What could be causing this?

When the steering on my 95 Taurus was momenarily binding up at high speed, it REALLY got my attention.

Swapped the serpentine belt & solved the problem.

The car had 60K miles when this happened, so from then on I replaced the belt every 50K.

Looks like your belt is slipping, either from age or the belt tensioner might need to be replaced.
