1997 rav 4

Just got done testing this, and about 3200 RPM’S or 65 MPH, it starts a real loud bass-y sound. It quits at 3500 RPM’S. It seems to be the exhaust. I looked at the muffler and tail pipe and didn’t see any noticeable flaws, cracks or holes. The question is: Is this a common defect? It’s got about 120,000 miles on it. Other than that, great running, but annoying enough not to buy it.

Did you Try 2nd-3rd gear or netrual at 3200rpms?
I would hate you miss out on the best little suv EVER.

Yeah, tried it in neutral, clutch in and idling at a standstill. I’m now positive it’s the exhaust system. Just weird it does it at that precise RPM. Dealer says he’ll have his wrench check it out. Hoping it’s an easy fix 'cuz I sure like the car.

The “best little suv ever”? What about the Suzuki Samurai? Geo Tracker? Isuzu Vehicross? Rav4…pffff.
