While driving in a straight line there is a “bumping” noise that increases with the speed of the car. It increases in volume when I turn the streering wheel to the right. But it disappears when I turn the wheel to the left and reappears when turning it back to the right. Applying the brake does not affect it. Any ideas to what it is?
I had a similar problem with a 2000 Blazer. It turned out to be bad front wheel bearings. It sounded like tire noise and would change in pitch/volume when the steering wheel was turned.
Ed B,
EdB is right - that description is classic for a bad wheel bearing. Don’t mess with it - have it looked at right away.
