I have a ‘96 Ram 1500 4x4 with a “strange” problem. The truck has a 318 engine and an automatic transmission with overdrive. Whenever I shift into 4-wheel drive, the dashboard indicator light takes some time before it comes on. Weirder yet, when I shift out of 4-wheel drive, the light remains on…sometimes flashing…and sometimes for days after I have shifted back to 2-wheel drive. Was’ up with that?
Does your truck have a Hi/lo transfer case with a shift lever or is 4WD engaged with a dash switch??
Sorry, I quess I should have specified that. It has a Hi/lo transfer case with a shift lever on the floor
