I was driving my cutlass and suddenly it died. I could start it up, but as soon as i put it into drive and touched the gas, it would sputter and die. the morning after i could not even get it to turn over and catch. I put gas in the car but it still wont start. I dont think it’s getting any fuel to the engine. Any ideas?
Turn the ignition on and see if there is any fuel pressure.
Remove the gas cap. While listening down the filler tube have someone turn the ignition switch to run position so the dash lights come on. You should hear the fuel pump run for a second or two and then shut off. If you don’t hear the fuel pump run at all, there’s a problem in the fuel pump circuit.
Tester
It will cost you more to fix than it is worth. If you try to fix it yourself, it may not run. You may end up with another car anyway. I’m just trying to predict the future; you can decide on fixing or getting another car.
