1971 Buick Electra 225

Does anyone have any experience with this particular model? When I was growing up, my neighbors had one, and I was fascinated by it. I thought they must be rich. The car then seemed so elegant, and when I did ride in it, it was like a floating cloud. I never see these cars anymore – very few for sale, but lots of 69 and 70 model Electras. Any thoughts on why? on the 71 model itself? Thanks!

You’re in the Classic Situation. The car was equal to a Cadillac. There weren’t too many of those sold when they were at the height of their popularity. If you buy one today, it may need a couple lower ball joints, a center link and some tie-rod ends. Then it will steer nicely. It would be a nice car if you can find a restored one. They get 11 or 12 MPG. They don’t like the gasoline we have today. They used to be OK on 92 octane.
