It a spin off from old meme about child snatchers luring children into a plain white van with the promise of candy…

And the 10mm socket is essential to work on modern cars…and seems always to get lost.

OK, now I understand but it is not funny.

In the Philippines, 14mms are difficult to find for some reason.

A relative there needs a longer 14mm socket to remove/replace his motorcycle spark plugs. I brought a couple with me from the States that I got for $1 each at a flea market upstate!

A real spark plug wrench isn’t just a socket. It’s a socket with a foam insert inside that grips the plug. That makes it much easier to insert and start the plug without cross threading it. Which is important.

But the 10mm, IMHO is funny!

Tech Tip:
If the correct spark plug socket is not readily available, you can use a fuel line hose over the end of the spark plug to help start the spark plug, you can not cross thread a spark plug using a rubber hose, the hose will slip before it can damage the threads…

Also works in those hard to reach places where you could cross thread the plug even using the proper socket… Old school stuff…

Well, he’s mechanically inclined, got that from his Dad who works on his own jeepney, so the 24mm long I brought back from the U.S. did the job.

But he is too helpless to go online . check local tool stores or Motorcycle shops to find a spark plug socket.

good grief . . . that’s no excuse, imo

a 14mm spark plug socket is common as dirt in today’s automotive world

especially on Asian brand automobiles . . . which are obviously the most common in the Philippines

Ain’t never seen no 10mm socket.

I use wife’s metric Crescent wrench from China.

I’m kinda organized with my tools, for sockets I have those foot long socket holder things. At the end of a day in my man cave I place all the sockets on those things. So I haven’t lost my 10mm! When you work as much as I do on my stuff you can’t spend half the day looking for tools.

I remember 30 years ago discussing metric tools with someone. He held up a large crescent wrench: “Here’s my metric tool set”!
