My '07 Jeep pops out of first gear when taking off from a dead stop. It is fairly violent. If I hold onto the shifter while starting, then it doesn’t do it. Any ideas?
When a manual transmission pops out of gear it is a sign of a faulty transmission. I think you need to visit your local Jeep dealer. You also need to read your warranty information closely.
Did this vehicle come with Chrysler’s Lifetime Powertrain Warranty?
If so, be prepared to persist–up to the corporate level–until they give you a new transmission.

If you are the first owner of this vehicle, then you are covered by the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty.
If you are not the first owner, you are out of luck, as it is not transferrable.
