Hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. We have a 04 Town and County with about 97,000 miles on it. If we are sitting still for a period of time, it will drop into limp mode. You actually hear a clunk, then the shift indicator lights up ever gear PRND, they all appear with a box around them as indicated. It happens more often if the AC is running. Actually at stop lights we turn the AC off. It happened in line at a drive in movie once. After it sits for a bit it is fine. No issues going down the road. But it seems to happen if there is not movement. Like something it getting too hot?? Any advice is appreciated… Thanks
The first thing to do is to have the codes read at a parts store. Most will do this free and then you can list them here for help. Even if the CEL is not on, there may still be something in the history if it occurred recently. If not, you may have to wait until the next episode and have the codes read soon after.
