I drive a 1996 Mercury Sable. I was on the freeway this Tuesday, it was pouring down rain, and my windshield wipers completely stopped working. I pulled over, fiddled with the switch for awhile, and eventually they started up again. I haven’t had any trouble with them since, but I haven’t used them very much either, and I’m afraid to go anywhere when it might start raining hard.
I talked to someone at a repair place, but they told me that because the wipers were working at that moment, everything would check out fine and there was nothing they could do.
Does anyone have any idea what might have caused that to happen?
It could have been several things. The switch, the motor, binding linkage a bad connection. Yea, it is hard to find when it is working.
