Why no hubaloo about the Air Car

Google “Air car” and check it out. How come all the buzz about the Smart car but none on this one. India’s Tata Motors has the car under production and it may be on sale in Europe and India by the end of the year.Tata Motors already makes air buses. If this car really does what they say I want one.Tom and Ray could get on and run it on…

It is surely an interesting concept. See Popular Mechanics from June 2007:
http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive/new_cars/4217016.html.

Why no publicity in the USA? Note that the article states “Of course, the Air Car will likely never hit American shores, especially considering its all-glue construction.” But if you are willing to move to India, you certainly can go and get a fleet of Air Cars.

It is not new. I remember stores about the same kind of thing back in the 50’s and 60’s. It just is not practical in most areas, including almost all of the US. Remember that you need to use energy to compress the air. That energy is not free nor pollution free. You would need a huge storage container for reasonable (reasonable for most uses most places) range.

The proof is in the test drive. It will be hard for any car to replace the 80 mph highway cruisers that so many people prefer.
The conservation of energy could be as good (or, better) than the untested negative assumptions.
I think that a lot of people are waiting for those test drives. Let’s just hope that the first test driver doesn’t complain about, “The car is under powered with less than 300 horse power, therefore, it’s unsuitable.”!
