Which rare or unusual cars have you seen recently?

Yep, it’s not a TF

I saw an F650 idling on Morningside between Silver and Lead. It was shiny red, new as it could be, with windows so tinted I couldn’t see anything inside. The idle was quiet at least, unlike a lot of pickups in town. Are those fuel tanks, those step-ups?

I saw a V20 Camry today. The car is at least 33 years old. Maybe not odd for Southern California, but it is unusual for Maryland.

Step tanks are what Ford calls them, looks like 50+ gallons each side.

I assume by “V20 Camry” you’re talking about the 1987 to 1991 generation? Those have become somewhat rare even here in southern Arizona. It turns out that people just aren’t willing to spend thousands of dollars for major repairs to keep this type of vehicle on the road anymore.

Yes, that generation. It looked great from 50 feet as it drove by in a parking lot. The front, one side, and back showed no rust at all.

Thanks. I imagine what happens when it gets t-■■■■■. b o n e d got censored.

Most medium and heavy duty trucks run side tanks out in the open like that… Diesel does not ignite that easy, I used to remove the one way valve on the big Lull diesel forklifts and leave the line loose and hanging while it was still being used out in the field while I cleaned it, with the return diesel running down the side of the engine while in use… Never had one blow up… lol
Would only turn it off long enough while removing/installing the valve…

Over the weekend, I saw two rare cars on the road, but it has taken me a few days to identify them accurately. First, I saw this micro car, and it was even the exact same color combination as the one in the pic. It is a Nissan Figaro, from the '80s. They were never marketed in The US, so the owner must have imported it.

Then, about an hour later, I was passed by a really old Porsche. My online research indicates that it was a 356 model, from the early-mid '50s. My friend–who isn’t as car-aware as I am–thought that it was an old VW, so I explained Porsche’s VW roots.

The one I saw was also painted white, but it was also decked-out in Bardahl livery. Whether it had been an actual race car, or the owner just wanted it to look like one, I have no idea.

Duncan imports brought in a warehouse full of Figaro:s and other jdb cars. The Figaro was based on Nissans answer to the chrvy sprint but with a 1.0 4cyl. The one you saw was 1 of 4 colors (spring) eash one represents a season. I’ve seen two in person.

Hard to say about the porsche, a 356b owner here in town talks about the history but its stock except for an upgrade to 110hp instead of 90. Local shop knows air cooled Porsches as a 2nd generation 356 fanatic.

Lots of 356 clones around.

Yesterday, I saw a 5th Generation Rolls-Royce Corniche convertible. This model was made from 2000-2002, and only 45 were built.

I was surprised by how (relatively) small it was, but it was in beautiful condition. The one that I saw was white, with a white top and white leather interior.

I want one!

Does a Corvair 95 count? A distant neighbor has these. I’ve never seen them on the road or even parked in a different place, but they look maintained on the outside and not full of junk.

The 95 is in the Google street view Google Maps

Family friend used to have 6 or 8 two stroke Saab’s of a mix of body styles. You lnew you were clise the more Saabs parked on his street. Now scattered to other fans but i do know one current owner.

I drove a Greenbriar van at a summer job in high school. Acceleration was almost nonexistent. The stick shift was so long that it felt like it was flexing whenever I shifted. When I drove home in my 1965 Corvair home from work it felt like a sports car in comparison.

Yup!
Don’t you just love the way that the left rear wheel is tucking-under?

I drove it in city traffic and never got the opportunity to hoon in it.

For 1965 the rear suspension of the Corvair was changed. No more tail happy than competitors.

Toyota Blizzard, saw it today and thought it was a Daihatsu which it is from the mid-late 1980’s. Suzuki samuaru sized and rhd. First pic is how it got my attention
