Which clamp method will work better for a cut exhaust?

I am cutting my exhaust in one spot and need to clamp it back when I’m done. Other than welding, which method of clamping will be better? A wrap around band clamp? Or a exhaust adapter with two smaller clamps?

I was thinking if I use the band clamp, I could use some sort of muffler cement to seal it better.

The band clamp is missing the aluminum foil, which will cause it to leak.

Use the exhaust adapter

I have used different brands of these for years and never seen one with aluminum foil of any kind. I have 2 on my car right now.

They work well.

The band clamp style?
Does it look similar to the one I pictured?

Do you add any gasket maker or exhaust cement to help seal or it will seal by itself?

Exactly like the one you pictured. I have not used any sealer but there is no reason you can’t.

I will give it a try. Thank you!

For a simple cut and repair, this is the best clamp. They are about $12 plus tax and shipping.
