Where's the fuel filter?

 Anybody know where the fuel filter is located on a 1999 Chevy Metro, 1.3L four cylinder?  I bought a new one that looks like a normal inline filter, but I can't find it on the car.

it’s probably on the firewall behind the engine if not trace the fuel lines lay on the ground usually running down the drivers side and there might be one there
