check engine light came on after van was skipping. Device at parts store said “cylinder 1 misfire”. Is cylinder 1 on front or back of engine and which side? Thanks!

On any “V” shaped engine, the number 1 cylinder is always closer to the front of the engine than the cylinder on the other side - though not by much (~1/2"-1"). One wrist pin has to be in front of the other.
