I figure it’s only a matter of time before I lose or crush the wireless remote fob for my car, and when I’m under the gun to replace it, it’ll cost an arm and half a leg.
So I figure if I get an extra one now, before I really need it, perhaps I can save a limb, or at least a few bucks.
Can anyone tell me where I can get one, and how to get it programmed?
The Subaru dealer will gladly sell you one, for the aforementioned arm and half a leg. The owner’s manual might have instructions for programming the new remote.
You might also try eBay.
ebay has them.
Didn’t your Subara come with two remotes? My RAV did and I promptly put the extra one away for safe keeping.
Ms. NYdriver has the other one. She’s been known to be a little, ahh…scatterbrained? clumsy?
In fact, I have not lost any keys or related items for 20+ years (ever since I put them on a lanyard, which I can easily grasp or hang around my neck). Still…I want to be prepared.
To McParadise & Andrew J, tnx for the tips, will check it out.
What is the correct, formal name for the thing we’re talking about? Is it in fact “fob”, or something else?
