When it rains it pours, car trouble

So last week my side detection on 2017 GMC Acadia Ltd had a service soon. Made an appointment for Tuesday. So today battery completely dead, have a jump starter and could get a little revolution but not enough to turn over long enough to start. Jumper box usually takes less than 15 seconds to charge back up. 15 minutes later still charging. Called for a tow to dealer, guy had a better jumper box I guess, mine is 600 amp. Tow guy got it to start drove it onto the flatbed, dealer calls and says you now have a check engine light, $100 diagnosis plus the $200 for side detection diagnosis. Another few grand down the tubes I fear, just complaining. If you want me to update on repairs let me know. Cheaper than a new car that can tow my boat I hope!

If the battery was dead, you could either have a worn battery or an alternator issue, or that voltage sensor thingy on the battery. Might be worth it to have them take care ofbjt if you trust them.

I had a three year old battery go bad on my Acura. Sunday morning stopped for gas before heading to South Dakota. Wife played radio. Came out and no start. Called for a jump and drove home. Got a new battery from Napa and all was fine again. Stuff hagppens.

Low voltage can cause different issues, I would replace the battery, check the charging system and cable ends and whatnot, wright down all the codes, then clear the codes and go from there, see if any and or what codes come back…

And yeah, keep us in the loop, (EDITED, comment came across wrong…)

I thought I made it as clear as I could. Yesterday no problem starting, today battery as dead as a nail. Please let me know what I need to clarify.

. . .

:joy::joy::rofl:

My experience has been that around 10 years old, depending on your climate etc, corrosion around electrical connections can drive you to drink. One minute everything’s fine, next minute dead as a doornail.

Had one experience when the A/C failed and my mechanic solved the problem by simply cleaning the engine to body ground strap connection and saved me a bundle.

I meant no disrespect in anyway, I don’t know how to explain it, so never mind, again no disrespect… My mind just works different then most, and I have a hard time comprehending things sometimes…

What the heck does that even mean??? What are you trying to say???

You really sound like someone that didn’t get picked for something and are now upset about it…

You folks starting the insults so early? Barky has been around for years and understand the language. So loosen up a little.

Side sensor as a kit is cheaper than the harness and one sensor, now they are going to see if other dealers have the kit, with 2 sensors and a harness. $1475 installed. We decided it was worth it. Corrosion is the issue. Not in stock anymore so they are going to try other dealers to see if they have one in stock. Check engine light throwing 6 codes, all related to fuel pressure sensor regulator or monitor, I forget which. don’t recall the price. It has been a good car, wife loves it, and I need it to tow the boat to launch and retrieve, then take the boat motor to get winterized.

Thanks for the update, hope they get you back on the road soon…

Still cheaper than a new vehicle payment and increased insurance… Plus the wifey likes it…

I’d buy new battery before $300 dealer head scratching session.
Quick glance. Dead battery. Jump pack won’t start car.
2+2 = new battery

Check engine diagnosis can’t be performed with a dead battery, low voltage causes erroneous system faults (codes).

On the other hand, I have seen shorted fuel pressure sensors shut down the PCM and cause a no-start condition. The cause of the problem is unknown, the vehicle was towed away, it is too late to recharge or replace the battery to see if it would have started.

Blind spot monitor modules are in a cold damp location, corrosion and failure is no surprise.
Assuming you were referring to the blind spot monitor, your post was unclear.

They said battery tested good.

Only if it is already fully charged. When you plug it in to charge, it will take 15 second to confirm that it is charged. If the jumper box is discharged, it will take 4 to 8 hours to recharge. How long does it take to charge the battery in your phone?

…needed to be recharged. How many hours per week do you drive this vehicle? Keeping a battery charged during retirement is a common problem.

Dealer states battery may have drained to a short in a side detection connection module, new side connection modules and harness installed, battery and charging tested fine after repair.
