When is a Gas,not a gas?

I thought I saw LNG, but you’re probably right.
My memory for details used to be better… I think… if I remember correctly… but not so much anymore.

Not LNG, hydrogen fuel cell, I think, from Toyota.

It’s fuel cell.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/richard-ha/toyota-shifts-focus-to-hy_b_5382369.html

Here is another article that discusses it. The fuel cell is used to produce electricity for the electric motor. Still a hybrid, but using a fuel cell instead of an ICE to supplement stored energy in a battery. It is a lot like a Volt in operation, except the fuel cell replaces the Volt’s ICE.

They say a CNG tanker is pretty close or exceeds the destructive power of many thousands of pounds of conventenal explosives ,LNG is probably safer ,talking about a Hullabaloo ,you ought to see and hear the protests about a proposed natural gas pipeline crossing the area where I ilve the NIMBYS AND Fruitbats and uninformed are raising heck.

Propane is ideal transportation fuel. Stores liquid at relatively low pressure (typically 125 psi or less depending on temperature). I fill up at home off my 3,000 gallon tank. No expensive pumps or expensive LNG or CNG tanks. And the best part is it is cheap and clean burning. I use a propane tractor on the farm and I converted my mowers, generators, and gas tools to run on propane. No more trips to the gas station and no more stale fuel gumming up my carburetors.

Exactly .thats why the smart Folks power their backup generators on
propane .

I power my backup generator on gasoline, of course that turns into a vapor and transforms from liquid gas, to an actual explosive vapor, Just cause I have nothing to add about gas think you brainiacs might be interested in the 4th state of water, kind of like the 4th tower of inverness, maybe,

You already know that water can have three states of matter: solid, liquid and gas. But scientists at the Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL) have discovered that when it’s put under extreme pressure in small spaces, the life-giving liquid can exhibit a strange fourth state known as tunneling.

The water under question was found in super-small six-sided channels in the mineral beryl, which forms the basis for the gems aquamarine and emerald. The channels measure only about five atoms across and function basically as cages that can each trap one water molecule. What the researchers found was that in this incredibly tight space, the water molecule exhibited a characteristic usually only seen at the much smaller quantum level, called tunneling.

Basically, quantum tunneling means that a particle, or in this case a molecule, can overcome a barrier and be on both sides of it at once

Yep good for fork lifts but not necessarily for everyone. I’m pretty sure they don’t allow large tanks in this town except on construction sites, but the other issue is I don’t know where I would fill up again 400 miles from home. Then a couple years ago there was a severe shortage and the price shot up to over $4.

Lets see I cant name them all ,but there seems to be around at least
six states of matter recognized nowadays ,back when I was a kid it
seems there were only 3 recognized (with plasma being kicked around as
a fourth state in some circles) ever hear of "poly water " I dont
remember the details ,think the idea wa eventuall y discarded and yes
a liquid persee doesnt actually combust until it vaporizes ,of course
other types of flammability can have a little different
basis(water,sodium ,etc)

Well the vehicles run on either propane or gasoline. My camry has a 28 gallon tank in the trunk and it will go 500 miles on fillup. My trucks have 80 gallon and 113 gallon tanks on them. Switch with a push button on the dash. Run out of propane just run gasoline. The advantage of buying in huge quantity is you can buy cheap in the summer and continue to drive until the price falls again. I have been looking into getting 18,000 gallon capacity (3 - 6,000 gallon tanks) so i can buy the semi truck load when it gets really cheap and store enough for 5 years. Recently when oil crashed it was as cheap as $0.29/ gallon on the wholesale level. Buying semi loads you can get it for wholesale + delivery fees.

Hank Hill is impressed, I’m sure.

a gal,I doubt if they would fill a vehicle though.Seen a propane powered
Crown Vic on I64 last weekend, that car will probably run 500K miles.
I am curious as to what the mileage trade off is though, the cooking gas
companies used to run propane all the time ,now the propane delivery
trucks seem to be mostly diesel powered .

A gallon of propane has about 75% of the energy as a gallon of gasoline. It’s 105 octane, but that doesn’t help much if the engine is dual-fuel.

The delivery driver told me they no longer run propane trucks due to liability insurance. Seems crazy too me because if you are already carrying a 3,000 gallon tank I can’t imagine any more liability by running the truck off of the massive tank on the back.

Mileage drops with the BTU changes. My car gets 28 MPG E10 and 22 MPG of propane. That is pretty much spot on with the drop in BTU (~115K BTU gasoline, ~92K BTU Propane).

You can fill off any home propane tank with a wet line valve and hose.

My 2003 f150 combo cng, gasoline has been all gasoline, closest place is 7 miles away. Note says to only use cng every other time.

Politicians have been doing this for years.

So a water molecule in quantum physics can express 2 different sates at once, like politicians, I might be starting to grasp the concept @B.L.E

But at the end of the day no matter what behavior is exhibited is it not one side or the other?

I understand it as compromise my boy, compromise.

So thats what its called ,a quantum congress .(of congress has another
meaning too )

The CNG vehicles around here ,I have seen used to belong to the Navy .
