Whats the best first mods for nissan patrol v8

i just got a 2014 nissan patrol v8 and i dont know what mods to put my friends told me to add new suspensions and rims but i am a little lost on what i should put first

Any specific objectives? Or do you just want to change something to make it seem like your custom vehicle? Either is fine, its yours and you can do what you want with it, but you’ll get better ideas here if you explain your motivations.

When I got my own Ford 4x4 truck as a 20-something , my initial project was new shocks. Made a noticeable improvement. Next was a better stereo. Sound was definitely better, but I now wish I’d have kept the original radio configuration.

My kid has a Lexus gx460 and he has a mild lift and bigger tires. I’d stick to same plan.

Just drive it around a while and put some miles on it… Find out what you like about it and what you think the factory could have done better… If you love the ride, then you probably don’t want to mess with the suspension… Wheels and tires will also affect the ride of the vehicle, so be careful there…

You might not like the sound system like George mentioned and want to upgrade it, but be warned, it can take you down a rabbit hole… Better radio/infotainment center, now you want better speakers, now you want more power so you add an amp, now you want more bass so you add a sub…

Join a few forums for your vehicle and see what others are saying they did that worked and didn’t work…

I have done all kinds of mods to my truck, some entirely for looks for me, some for practical reasons, some for better quality of life in the truck, one for safety, saving money up to do one for long term life of the transmission and better throttle response that the shoulda coulda done… All for me and none to impress anyone but me… Heck I even added body color matched letter inserts to the model name on the glove box, nobody hardly will ever see it, but again it was strictly for me…

One thing I have that I still need to install is a 100% plug-n-play anytime front/rear camera view with a toggle switch, meaning it uses the back up camera but also adds a front camera that you mount in the grill so you can see how close you are getting to something pulling in or backing in or for whatever reason… Not for recording anything…

That model–known in The US as the Nissan Armada–is known for having very clumsy handling, so perhaps the suspension is something to focus on, once you’ve gotten used to the vehicle.

IMO, the most important thing when buying a 10 year old vehicle is to make sure that all of the manufacturer’s maintenance recommendations are up to date on the vehicle. If you don’t have access to its maintenance history, you have to assume that the most recent major maintenance procedures were not done–and that you need to do them. Otherwise, you risk having some really expensive repairs in the future.

And, if airbags were standard equipment in your country, you should be aware that (in The US), these vehicles are under recall for “exploding” airbags that shower the driver with metal shards. Unless you know for sure that the airbag has already been replaced with an updated one, I would suggest that you have your mechanic disconnect the airbag.

That’s a very big truck. While the ride could be improved, it will still handle like a hippopotamus on a wet river bank.

CR says that it has a cushy ride quality and abundant power, but the handling is… let’s just say… not sporty.

First-get all maintenance up to date. If you don’t know it’s been done, assume it hasn’t. If you don’t know they’ve been changed, change ALL fluids with factory-spec replacements. Have a mechanic go over it to see if any mechanical issues are present. I’d go with a high-quality set of shocks/struts, then tires that fit your planned use.
