I think those loops act like a stress relief to prevent cracks due to thermal expansion.
The link above says they do two things - modify the sound and reduce or eliminate the need for mufflers. Those make sense, unlike stress relief. Or was that a joke?
Loops are used in many industrial pipes where stress relief is needed.
Where is the stress coming from? The weight of the exhaust tips? The whole back end of the system floats.
I donāt think stress is the issue.
