What is an “old car”

Yup!
A few weeks ago, I saw a guy pull his little Hyundai Accent into a totally-empty section of a parking lot, and he then proceeded to go forward and backward 5 or 6 times in order to park in a “rear” space, despite the fact that the space in front of him was empty–just like all of the spaces surrounding him. What was truly bizarre was that each time he went forward and backward, he actually wound-up placing his car in a more crooked position than it was previously. I stayed a bit longer than I needed to, just to witness this spectacle, and when I finally left, he was still creeping forward and backward. I saw his do this “course correction” 5 or 6 times before I left, but I have no idea how much more of this he engaged in before I left.

It’s not that it annoys me. Instead, it simply amazes me that some people go through so much trouble to do something that isn’t really practical. I guess that it’s just a bit more evidence that a lot of people do things–including driving–without engaging in the thought process.

Obviously!
In my neck of the woods, those things don’t exist because they would make it impossible to do snow-plowing.
IIRC, you are in CA, where snow is not a reality for most of the state.

The only place where you see those “stops” in my area is directly in front of convenience stores. Unfortunately, there are still some instances of people driving right into the front window of those stores despite the “stops”.

Honest, officer!
The harder I stepped on the brake, the faster it went!

“Automatic braking” is a questionable feature, but I have not driven a car with it. I was driving, a car pulled out in front of me, I simply let off the gas to slow down, my passenger stated her vehicle with automatic braking would have stopped her car.
If you drive as taught, I.e. keeping vigilant, getting the big picture, driving defensively, I highly question some of these new “features”.
Cruise control that helps maintain space ahead of you might be beneficial, but I prefer to drive far enough ahead (big picture) to change lanes to pass slower traffic.
Driving in San Francisco:
Maintain your brake system
Have tires that have good wet traction.

I did not go back to reread all the comments, but if you have the original tires, they are overdue for replacement.

Agree 100% most if not all newer cars have far to many distractions plus many people can’t seem to function f they don’t have their phone in their hand and I like vehicles like mine I can reach and operate any control without taking my eyes off the road.

This sounds ridiculous but I couldn’t figure out how to change the time on my 2018 Kona (which I really like) -not in the manual or the general instructions booklet. I wound up poking the screen upon which the time was displayed, and viola!- up came the menu. Sheesh.
no fire scare but I cracked up LOL.

Do the general maintenance and do maintenance like change the oil once a year . Change tires every 6 years regardless of miles . You may eventually need a new exhaust system because you obviously dont drive it long enough to even heat up the engine. Otherwise keep driving it . You dont need most of these so called safety features , it is just something else to go wrong . And I’m sure just about everyone in here would buy your car if they were looking for a good used car .

The transmisdion fluid changed?

VOLVO-V70–The safety feature I miss in my 2011 Lexus LS (only 29,000 miles) is cameras to cover the blind spots in the outside rear mirrors. Are they available, if so, what kind of shops install them?

If your mirrors are adjusted correctly you should not have blind spots.
any car audio installers should be able to help you with installing cameras.
