The problem is that someone with the clout of being listened to by thousands of people every week needs to go on the air and point out the proper (and improper) use of this stuff as a public service. Somewhere out there there must be somebody willing to do this…
I read most of the posts about WD40. There are many accurate posts. And correct WD does stand for ?water displacement?.
Used on older wet sparkplug wires and distributers will allow the engine to start rather quickly. WD40 works almost as well as Goo-gone removing press apply stickers off of fabrics etc. It is a solvent and not a lubricant.

exactly, wd 40 is a light lubricant meant for things needing lightly lubricated. it comes in handy for things that need lubrication that is thinner than oil or grease. for a car latch, id use grease.
